Packing List

When I was younger, I started planning next year's garden each year about this time. Even though it was months before I needed to order seed, I reviewed and re-viewed any and all items I considered ordering from Burpee's or Gurney's. And so, even though it's going to be months before I embark across the US, I am planning my packing list.

Bike clothing:

three pairs of bib shorts

three pairs of socks

three compression shirts

two short sleeved jerseys

one long sleeved jersey

arm warmers

knee warmers

walkable touring shoes

lighweight cycling jacket

rain gear

Off bike clothing:

one pair shorts

one pair lighweight pants

one t shirt

two pairs boxer shorts

sandals or something suitable for use in a public shower

one small towel

Other stuff:

toiletries

sunscreen

first aid kit

ibuprofen

small notepad and pencil or pen

book for reading in camp or when forced off the bike by weather. Most likely choice is the Bible.

camera

All these items are subject to being changed, of course.

Books on mp3 might be the way to go. I imagine there are many audiobook versions of the bible out there. Downside is that you can't browse as easily if looking for a passage.

Also a downside is the loss of the physical sensation of holding the printed word - or, in the case of the Bible, the printed Word.

Will you be using clipless or platform pedals?

Platforms. Simplicity is best for something like this.
